i recently had the same problem... sounded like the brakes/rotors.. i replaced and the grinding was still there... to find the problem i jacked the back axle/wheels off the ground and put the vehicle on jackstands so i could simulate driving conditions so i could get under neath the vehicle while in drive... the grinding noise i found was from the transfercase.. i drained the fluid by the plug and stuck a little pen magnet inside the plug and fluid ... sure enough there were little metal shavings found on the magnet indicating the gears were grinding... unsure of the cost for the repair right now.. :(
