The vent hose is for either the transfer case breather or the transmission breather. A light amount of oil residue is normal. If there is a lot of fluid coming out of the hose then it is most likely caused from the transmission getting too hot.
Underneath, bolted to the back of the engine.

on the oil pan which is attached to the engine. do not mistake the transmission for the engine. on the oil pan which is attached to the engine underneath the car. do not mistake the transmission for the engine.
underneath the car. somewhere near where the engine and transmission hook up.
underneath engine on drivers side, mounted on transmission.
probly or it mite be a leak in your transmission fluid pan.
The automatic transmission fluid dipstick is near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine in the engine compartment . The manual transmission fluid level is checked underneath the vehicle at the transmission fill plug
Flush the transmission.....for some strange reason when I had the transmission fluid changed...new filter..etc....the engine hours were reset to 0. Not happy...can't seem to find any info as to why this happened or if it can be fixed.
It will be most easily accessed from underneath the car. It is bolted to the transmission case where the engine is attached.
The 2013 Chevrolet Black-Diamond-Avalanche has a V8 engine.
The automatic transmission has a dipstick that is located near the back of the engine. It is underneath the hood and has a red handle.
Look underneath the engine near the transmission. It should be there where it belongs unless someone moved it.
