if the baby is slow to develop or is still in the womb after 42 weeks
It's not a sure science, in that case only doctors would give it to you. Castor oil does not give you contractions directly, it gives you diarrhea. Those cramps are believed to sometimes bring on labor but usually it's just you sitting on the toilet with the runs. So stay away from the oil and start taking walks, have sex and eat spicy food if you want to try to induce by yourself. They think it's better for the body to start by itself though. Be patient.
It will make you go to the bathroom but it will not put you in labor, it's an old wives tale.
Caster oil may help bring on labour for some women - not everyone though. A normal pregnancy length is considered to be 38-40 weeks. Therefore if you are only 36.4 weeks, I would suggest you wait just a little bit longer. Wait until you are 38 weeks. It is more likely to give you colic and diarrhoea. Answer: My advice... dont do it. I tried it thinking it would move things faster, it did, but not the labor. I sat on the toilet for hours after drinking it. When all was settled, I still went another 2 weeks before going into labor for real. Just wait it out, enjoy the pece and quiet, and he chance to sleep :)
Castor is still on the main sequence and thus is converting hydrogen to helium.
i took castor oil at 39.5 weeks pregnant. it gave me intense labor but they were false! was in hospital for 12 hours with intense labor pains and still no baby, they sent me home. when your cervix is not ready it is not ready. i would not try this. dont do it, it is not worth it. it just makes the process even longer and more pain than it has to be. again ladies dont do it!! no no
Yes my mum uses it
Yes
Although there is little scientific, peer-reviewed data to support the claim that castor oil can hasten the onset of labor, there is plenty of anecdotal information that it does. Many childbirth professionals attest to its efficacy. However, inducing labor is not something to do before week 40. I understand that you want to get the show on the road, but you're rushing things.
they leave you for a maximum of 6hours to see if you go into labour on your own, then if not they put you on a drip to induce your leabour, if you still donr go into full labour, you are taken for an emergency c-section, this is how it was explained to me by a midwife on the ward when i was in having my daughter :)
Don't drink castor oil! It just gives you stomach pains and diarrohea which you really don't want during labour
There's not a lot you can do to start labor. Taking castor oil (which is what I think you are talking about) usually just gives you an upset tummy. You could try the following, safer methods. Go for a walk: the movement and gravity sometimes get things moving Have sex: the prostiglandins in semen may induce labor Those are the only two safe methods. Nipple stimulation also can cause contractions. I would not recommend this because you don't want the baby to come before it's ready. At 37 weeks you are not full term yet (38 to 40 weeks is full term).
