Where does transmission fluid leak from?

Transmission fluid can leak from many places. It could leak from the actual transmission itself, or any of the tubing that goes from the transmission to other parts of the car.

Would having a leak in the transmission pan big leak stop the car from driving if all trans fluid was gone?

The transmission will not work without fluid.

Fluids Make A Car Run?

One of the most important fluids in your car is the transmission fluid. There is no way around getting your car to run properly without transmission fluid. This fluid is what makes your transmission turn and the gears shift. If you have a leak and there is little of no fluid in your transmission, then your car will not move. There are some signs you can look for if you think your car is low on fluid. If you have a large piece of cardboard, you can place it under the car. This will let you know if there is any fluid leaking form under the car. Leave the board under the car for at least a day in order to see if anything is leaking. Take the board out from under the car and look to see if there is any fluid on the board. If there is, you need to examine to see what kind of fluid it is. It if it red, then it is most likely transmission fluid. When you discover there is a transmission fluid leak, you will need to have it looked at by a mechanic immediately. Some leaks are not detectable until the mechanic looks underneath the car. You could also have an internal leak that is not showing up under the car. The fluid could be going to your oil reserve or to another part of the car. Sometimes when you have your transmission fluid changed, the bolt may not be tight enough and some fluid will leak around it. All you have to do is take it back to the mechanic and get them to tighten the bolt. If the fluid leak is large, you will either need to get the gasket changed or find out where the fluid is going. Do not run a car longer than necessary with no transmission fluid. This will damage the transmission more than if you would just get the fluid leak fixed.

If the transmission has a leak and the car wont drive when its in gear what is the cause of it?

Are you asking the cause of the leak or cause of the not moving problem. If your fluid is low that may be the problem right there. YOU CAN BURN OUT A TRANSMISSION BY NOT KEEPING FLUID FULL!!!

Transmission has bad oil leak on a 1994 Mercury Sable?

Clean the 1994 Sable transmission at a car wash. This will make it easier to find the leak. Keeping the fluid full, check the transmission frequently to see where the leak is.

Why does my ford windstar leak transmission fluid only when it is hot?

The Windstar transmission could have a seal that leaks worse as the transmission gets hot and the fluid is under pressure. Go to a car wash and clean the transmission good. Watch for several days to see where the fluid is leaking from so that you can find and fix the leak.

Is it good for transmission fluid to leak into the engine?

No it is not good for transmission fluid to leak into the engine. More information is needed to give even an educated guess why this is happening. The car must be older, or have a modulator valve in transmission pan and diaphragm is bad on the vacuum line.

Does the Modulator on a car have anything to do with the transmission of a car?

i know theres a modulator on a chevy th 400 tranny that can leak fluid bad and prevent it from shifting. Its on the transmission itself.

What do I do with transmission fluid issues in my car?

First make sure it actually is a problem with the fluid by looking for things such as a puddle of fluid coming from your car, then assess the seriousness of the leak by how much came out, if minor use stop-leak and pour it directly down the tube.

Where or how do you add transmission fluid to your 2002 Thunderbird?

You can't the transmission on the 2002 Thunderbird is sealed. There is no distick or any way to add fluid other than through the ports on the transmission under the car. The dealer has to do that. It shouldn't need fluid unless it has a leak. If it is leaking it has to be done by a mechanic that will fix the leak and then drain the entire transmission and refill it through the ports on the bottom.

How does transmission fluid leak into oil pan front wheel drive car?

You probably have a leak in the hose/line that takes your transmission fluid to the cooler (in the radiator). Look for the small tubes/hoses that run from the engine to the side of the radiator; the leak is probably in the area where the metal tube meets the rubber hose. Good luck!

Why is there a puddle of transmission fluid under my 2003 Saturn Ion?

Because you have a leak, or you parked over a puddle of someone else's transmission fluid. If it is from your car visit your local dealership otherwise park somewhere else.
