I have the same engine, same model. The timing is not being retarded. Mark your crankshaft pulley when #1 piston is at TDC on it's compression stroke. Than use a timing light, you will see that the timing mark does not retard like it should. Why? I have yet to find out. If you find out why before I do, let me know. My TPS amd MAP sensors are working just fine. posted 02/12/2008
Throttle linkage could be in a bind or TPS is defective. (throttle Position sensor)
description = throttle pot or associated wiring. function = looks for throttle pot resistance out of range.
take off throttle body and clean it with throttle body cleaner.
Yes, if the throttle plate is stuck closed.
Either it is defective or not getting the right input from the engine control module.

Either you're stepping on the gas or your missing a cylinder or your timing is slightly off or the gauge is defective. Take it to your mechanic and have him look at it. Could be a defective TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
Clogged fuel filter, fuel pump problems, engine timing, defective spark plug(s), defective distributor and or wiring used in those components.
This idle problem is caused by a dirty or defective throttle motor/body. It also quite possible that a defective temp sensor is the cause. Good luck.
Your foot on the throttle.
Occasionally the gas pedal will have some resistance when you press it. You could check and lube gas pedal, gas cable, and throttle itself.
