my camaro did the same thing...at first i thought the engine was going...it turned out to be the torque converter on the transmission. which would be good news in your case....way cheaper than buying another engine. take it to a tranny shop they will tell you for sure.
This could also possibly be an oil pump problem. When the van is idling, the oil pressure is very low, but when you increase the speed of the engine, the oil pressure increases,,,,,in your words, "sort of". Needs to be looked at by a good mechanic. If that oil pump quits, you will seize up the engine.
The knocking problem you are having is most likely the gas you are using. If you switch to a higher octane fuel it should solve the problem.
You may have a loose rod or loose roller rocker
well all i can say is its a piece of junk and u should give away
Yes Knocking on people's door and running is Illegal
I assume that you have rear drum brake. If so, the knocking sound which happens only when apply the brake is more likely cause by an out-of-round drum. Take your car back to the mechanic that installed them. This problem is not bound to go away.
Sorry bud but that means that you have what's called a " Rod knock", one or more of the main and or the rod bearings have gone away, need to break that engine down to fix it. jr
It all depends on what KIND of knocking sound. Some people call it a knocking sound when the engine pings from pre-ignition. If that's what you have, check the knock sensor.A classic knocking sound is typically either worn bearings or piston slap.Piston slap is when there the skirt of the piston is a little small and it "pops" at the bottom of the stroke. Typically that sound goes away once the engine warms up. The small block 350 is notorious for a little piston slap and as long as it goes away once the engine is warmed up piston slap is considered to be in the nuisance category of engine sounds. If it's worn bearings you'll also see some kind of indication of low oil pressure. If THAT'S going on, the engine is "done". You can try a heavier weight oil but if it's knocking constantly that probably won't do much good.Thank You for that Answer about the Bearings and Crankshaft
Lifters or valves.
trouble came knocking at the door hearing laughter it quickly scurried away
If the engine has a knocking sound like someone hitting something with a hammer then it could be a rod bearing. It is best to have it looked at right away. It may require a complete engine rebuild.
I had a popping/rolling sound whenever I would take off or slow down in my '04 pacifica. I took it to a dealer and they said my motor mount was cracked in 2 places sending a vibration throughout the frame of the vehicle. Replaced the motor mount and the popping.rolling sound has gone away.
Tornadoes cause blackouts by bringing down power lines, either by knocking trees into them or by directly knocking over or even blowing away utility poles.
