If it's and Old Beetle, it's in the glove compartment on the left side. Should be a handle. If not then hopfully you can see the cable and use a pair of piers and pull on it. Buy a Bently manual for your year bug. It will have directions on how to open it if your cable is broken. NOT FUN..
