If the actuator cable breaks then the key and the interior release both don't work. It needs to be replaced. If your trunk has a manual release inside then you can pull the back seats down and reach in to release it. Then undo one screw in the interior handle and pop out the plastic covering on the trunk. Then you will be able to see the cables. Good luck. Check out YouTube.
As far as I can see, because I crawled into the trunk to open the trunk so I could repair the mechanism that opens the trunk. No!
An electric wiring short. You have a frayed wire someplace making contact and popping the trunk open.
does the vehicle have an alarm, or does it have an electric switch in the cab to open the trunk remotely
It is manual, there is no trunk button whatsoever on the inside of the car, you need the key to get in. The lock on ours was broken, so we had to drill through the destroyed lock to open it :D
on most cars it is on the side of the dash but you have to open the driver side door to access it, you should see a panal that say fuses
how i can open back door passat 1998
the boot lock actuator is faulty the seize up they are not dear to replace around 20 euros .they go all the time
Try the electric release button in the glove box.
If the back of the rear seat can be removed, then you can crawl into the trunk and release it. If that is not an option, and the electric switch cant be fixed, then the lock will either have to be picked or drilled out.
The roof on the Honda del sol is a targa top, manual, you take it off with your hands, then open the trunk then slide it onto the roof rack, (in the trunk) then latch it, then close trunk.
Even if the trunk release is broken, the external key lock should be able to open the trunk.
If yours is like mine it has a key as well as electric lock. otherwise your in a mess.
