In The Bible, the Book of Job begins:
Job 1:1New International Version (NIV) Job 1Prologue1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.
Though no precise location has been determined for the land of Uz, many believe it is in Edom which would make Job most likely an Edomite.
No, he was of "the land of Uz".
Uz is sometimes identified with the kingdom of Edom, roughly in the area of modern-day southwestern Jordan and southern Israel.
THIS IS INCORRECT!!!
Job was indeed oriental. He was a descendant of Shem ( one of Noah's three sons of whom all races are derived). History shows that the eastern part of the globe is where humanity had it's start. The areas of early population by Noah's sons would include Africa (where Hams descendants settled) Europe (where Japheth's descendants settled) and Asia (where Shem's descendants settled). Of course there were some overlapping of the "cousins". These were early civilizations and blood ties were much stronger then so the different features, which are more prominent now, may have not been as prominent then. Job was a distant nephew of Abraham.......and no, Abraham was not oriental as he was born in what is now part of Africa. Genesis 10:22,23 shows that Uz was a descendant of Shem. Job lived in the land of Uz, which is where Uz's descendants settled. The scriptures refer to this as " the land of the east". When God had Abraham "touring'' the land he was going to inherit. That also included lands in Asia. His son Jacob went to West Asia to get a wife ( Leah and then Rachel) Yes, they both were Orientals. They were daughters of Laban the Syrian (Genesis 28:5). Syria is a part of West Asia. So this was Job's family and also his heritage. Contrary to popular beliefs, the Hebrews and the Orientals are cousins.......as we are all related.
In Oriental philosophies such as Confucianism and Taoism, there is an emphasis on harmony with nature, balance, and self-cultivation. Man is seen as an integral part of the universe with the potential to achieve enlightenment and live in harmony with the world around them. Personal development, ethics, and self-awareness are key components of the Oriental view on man.
Yes, but not oriental as we know it. Oriental was a term used in bible times to refer to those on the far east...likely Arabia. Ask one of jehovahs witnesses. They have the answers.Another Answer:No, it does not appear so. Job was a native of the land of Uz:Job 1:1New International Version (NIV) Prologue1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. In the genealogies of the nations found in Genesis, Aram is the father of Uz:Genesis 10:23New King James Version (NKJV)23 The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and MashAram was from the line of Shem and is believed to be in the general area of the Middle East where Edom lived and Arabia (See Jeremiah 25:20 and Lamentations 4:21 for more referrence). Aram is said to be the father of the Arameans which are not part of the Oriental branch.
In traditional oriental philosophy, man is seen as an integral part of nature and the universe. Man is believed to be interconnected with all living beings, and his actions are seen as having a direct impact on the balance and harmony of the world.
