Yes and no. It seems that Jonah's prayer starts out with him in the whale, but later we find him praying "out of the belly of hell." He also says, "yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God." Corruption has to do with a decaying dead body. Additionally he says, "When my soul fainted within me" indicating that he was dead.
Just as Jesus died and three days later came back to life, so did Jonah. He died, a great fish saved his body, and three days later God brought him back to life.

Inside a whale
Jonah. God told him to go to Ninevah and preach but Jonah ran from God, he boarded a ship bound for a far away place so God sent a storm and Jonah was thrown overboard. It wasn't Jonah's time to die so god sent a whale to swallow Jonah, Jonah spent three days inside the whale praying to God for forgiveness so God had the whale spit Jonah onto shore and Jonah went to preach the gospel in Ninevah as God had commanded.
large fish. (The Bible doesn't mention a 'whale' anywhere in the book of Jonah.)
The whale spat Jonah out on dry land.
Jonah 2:10-"And the Lord spoke unto the fish and it vomited Jonah upon the dry land." So basically Jonah got up chucked,or as it states in the bible. Scientific evidence would tell you that Jonah would have some damage done to his body from the acid inside of the whale's belly(which he bible speaks nothing of).
