The Bible does not actually mention Ramses as the ruler of Egypt during the time of Moses. In fact, if Moses lived for 120 years, he would have outlasted several pharoahs. Ramses II (or Rameses II) lived from approximately 1290 to 1224 BCE, which would have coincided with the time that new settlers began to arrive in the Canaanite hinterland.

Rameses II was considered to be one of the greatest Pharaohs who ever lived. He inherited an impressive empire, and his power stretched from southward of Sudan, north to Turkey, west to Lybia, and east to Iraq. Ramses II took upon himself what can only be described as an extraordinary building activity in his 67-year reign. The greatness of Ramses II is believed to have been due, in no small part, to the training and example of his father.

Ramses II lived 1304 to1237 BCE, somewhat later than the Bible seems to place the life of Moses. There is no mention anywhere in the Egyptian records of Moses, or even of the Israelite people in Egypt.

The Bible does not actually mention Ramses as the ruler of Egypt during the time of Moses. In fact, if Moses lived for 120 years, he would have outlasted several pharoahs. However, Ramses II is popularly believed to have been the Egyptian ruler at the time of the Exodus because Exodus 12:37 mentions the city of Rameses, built by Ramses II: "And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children."

Ramses II (or Rameses II) lived from approximately 1290 to 1224 BCE, which would have coincided with the time that new settlers began to arrive in the Canaanite hinterland, but does not coincide with the traditional date of the Exodus - 1440 BCE.

A:Ramses II (or Rameses II) lived from approximately 1290 to 1224 BCE, which would have coincided with the time that new settlers began to arrive in the Canaanite hinterland, but does not coincide with the traditional date of the Exodus - 1440 BCE.

For this reason, some have changed the date of the biblical Exodus to coincide with Ramses' reign, but this causes other problems. 1 Kings 6:1 states that Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt 480 years before the fourth year of Solomon's reign. The Bible says that the pursuing pharoah was drowned, along with his army, so if the Exodus occurred under Ramses II, it occurred approximately 1224 BCE. Then the fourth year of Solomon's reign was in 744 BCE and, ruling for exactly 40 years, he reigned until 704 BCE - just 18 years after the final destruction of Israel by the Assyrians. No matter what adjustments and compromises we make, Moses could not have been in Egypt during the reign of Ramses II.

Moreover, the historical perspective, according to almost all scholars of the period, is that there was no biblical Exodus from Egypt, and therefore no Moses as described in the Bible.

Who was the Pharaoh mentioned in the Bible in Moses' time?

he was king of egypt. As the Pharaoh in the Bible is never explicitly named and dating the events of the Bible (if they occurred) is very difficult, there is no consensus over who the Pharaoh was that Moses was dealing with. The most common assumption is that is was Ramses II due the mention of the store-houses of Pithom and Raamses.

Did Moses in the time of Ramses II trade with china silk if so then the coin that was found during the Ming dynasty could have actually started as trade pharaoh in the time of Moses some 100 yrs later?

No. Egypt and China did not know of each other until significantly later, much closer to 300 B.C.E. (Over 1000 years after Ramses II). The Ming Dynasty only came to power in 1368 C.E., which is over 1600 years after these initial contacts. There is no way that anything that happened in the Ming Dynasty has any correlation to Ramses II or Moses.
