In "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," Brick suffers from an undisclosed problem that is usually assumed to be homosexuality, although it's never specified. In most productions, Brick is played as not knowing this about himself, or as being deep in denial.
Not in the movie, but in the play it's more ambiguous but Williams gave the idea that Brick loved Skipper more than just a friend. In the film with Newman and Elizabeth Taylor, the idea is that Skipper was gay and Brick ignored it and looked it as just a pure friendship.

Brick is commonly called "brick veneer". It is a Wall covering. It does not support weight. The roof should not connect to the brick. Trim "frieze" covers the gap between the brick and soffit.
Brick had a sports career while he was young. At the beginning of the film, Brick - quite drunk - finds himself in a sports field and remembers his past. He falls while running and jumping through obstacles.

Some brick will allow water to penetrate. That can cause a problem when the brick is on a roof. Sealing the brick will usually take care of the problem.
