For a short time Fort Calgary was named Fort Brisbois as Commander Brisbois was the 1st commander of the Fort. He named the Fort after himself, as many commanders did. However he was not a well liked man and the officers under him at the fort complained. So Colonel MacLeod went to Fort Calgary and (since there was already a Fort MacLeod) he renamed the fort Fort Calgary after his favorite family vacation spot in Scotland: Calgary Bay, and because he was under the impression that "Calgary" meant "clear running water" which made sense as the Fort was situated at the confluence of the area's two rivers.
In short, there was a Fort Brisbois which was located in Calgary, but it was quickly renamed.
