Almost all of them were not. That is not to say that Manson wasn't a biggot, he was. He hated minorities and Jews. But his crimes were not about race. In Maury Terry's expose on satanic cults, Manson ordered the Tate murders due to drug deals and Manson's anger at Abigail Folger and her boyfriend Wojech Frykowski. The common denomiator was in fact a satanic cult known as The Process. The race war was not the underlying reason for the murders.

What are the names of the Manson family members who are in jail for the Tate-LaBianca murders?

Susan Atkins, (died of brain cancer in 2009), Patricia Krenwinkle, Leslie Van Houten, Charles 'Tex' Watson and of course Charles Manson. *Bobby Beausoleil was arrested prior to the above family members for the murder of music teacher Gary Hinman. Hinman's murder preceeded the Tate-LaBianca killings by several weeks and was initially not associated with other Manson family murders. All of the above mentioned Manson family members have requested parole numerous times and all attempts have been refused by the California Parole Board.

What were Charles Manson's rules?

Charles Manson had a set of rules that he enforced within his "Family" cult. Some of these rules included total obedience to Manson, surrendering personal possessions, no talking about the Family's activities to outsiders, and maintaining loyalty to the group. These rules were designed to maintain control over his followers and manipulate them to carry out his violent and criminal acts.

What was the name of the family that the strangers was based on?

It's not so much based on a certain family. Some say it was all in the dector's head... Or that it was based on when someone knocked on his own door as a child and asked for someone. Then the next day, he found that all empty houses had been broken into. Others say it was a mix of three different events... the only one I can remember from the list is the Manson killings. I have no idea which one is true.

How many Manson family members were convicted of murder?

There were around 30 young children that lived within the 'family'. Not all of them were born into the 'family'. Some came with their mothers, Manson's followers, and some were born into the family, though I doubt that the mothers ever knew who the fathers were. It was Manson Family policy that everyone had sex with everyone else, and frequently, so I doubt they were much concerned with paternity. As to how many were actually Charles Manson's may never be known. Those children are now middle-aged, some may not even know of their strange time in the family. It may be a good thing if they don't remember.

What was Charles Manson's family's sentence?

All were found guilty of multiple counts of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, and all received a death sentence. Except for Linda Kasabian, the only family member that was present at both Tate and LaBianca murders who did not kill anyone. Kasabian was given immunity for her testimony against the others, Manson included.

How did Charles Manson control his family?

Charles Manson started attracting followers that were transfixed or mesmerized by his teachings of freedom and having an open society. These followers were mostly women who were searching for affection and meaning during the age of flower power. Manson was able to manipulate his followers to believe he was of a higher power and groomed his hair and beard to resemble God. Manson would control his family by subjecting them to drugs such as LSD and having them participate in orgies so they could release there sexual inhibitions. The family included the following: Leslie Van Houten, Mary Brunner, Lynette Fromme, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian Patricia Krenwinkel, Bobby Beausoliel, Steve "Clem" Grogan and Charles "Tex" Cobb. Over the next two years, Manson continued with his teaching of forming a free society. During this time, Manson started to exert his power on members of the family by having them participate in sexual acts in front of all the family members, to display their loyalty to him. One request Manson had made to Bobby Beasoliel a family member that Mason befriended in prison, was to kill one of Manson's friends, a musician that he suspected of having a large sum of money at his home. Mason instructed two other family members Brunner and Atkins to accompany Beasoliel and help carry out this request. After killing the musician, the family under Manson's instruction tried to make the killing resemble that of the Black Panthers.
