For some Hondas, there is a wire that is tucked under the dashboard, right near the glovebox. It's a 2 conductor wire. If the wire is "jumpered", then the key is turned on, the dashboard lights often show the diagnostic codes. You'll need to refer to the owners manual or a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle to verify this, don't just assume that it's right.
