The Anti-Federalists felt the new Constitution gave too much power to the national government at the expense of the states and people. They felt there was nothing in the Constitution to protect the rights of the citizens and to prevent the national government from misusing it's power. Many Anti-Federalists agreed to support the new Constitution if a Bill of Rights was added to the document.
