On the 4.0 liter OHV ( VIN " X " ) engine it is on the drivers side of the engine
below the Power Steering pump and on the 4.0 liter SOHC ( VIN " E " )
engine it is on the front of the engine near the lower rad hose
it is in the side of the oil pan
The switch is screwed into an oil filter adapter located at the oil filter. You will recognize it by the wiring on it.
There is no such thing as an oil pressure switch on your 1994 Ford Ranger 3.0 liter engine. There is an oil pressure sensor. The oil pressure sensor can be found on the left-hand side of the engine.
The oil pressure sending unit is on the drivers side of the engine below the power steering pump on the 4.0 liter V6 in a 1997 Ford Ranger
It's on the drivers side rear of the engine, a little out of sight. It's straight up and down. You'll need a special socket to remove it.

a 1993 ford ranger will hold 5 qts of oil. From the Chilton Ford Ranger guide: A 1993 Ranger with a 3.0 liter engine take 4.5 quarts of oil. The other engine sizes all take 5.0. My 3.0 Ranger takes 5 quarts, Chilton is probably not taking into account of the oil filter.
