Although unlikely to be identified in legal procedures, the medieval era was one where superstition and the church were extremely powerful. Although such bodies as the Inquisition only rose to power in the renaissance, with the perceived threat of Protestantism to the hegemony held by the catholic papacy, in the medieval era, such behavior as "wizardry" or witchcraft would almost certainly result in public outcry and at best, trial for heresy. At worst, it would likely be a terrified mob baying for blood.

The medieval age was one where any deviation from the teachings or authority of the church could be a fatal action.
