She currently lies buried under an elaborate marble monumental effigy showing the Queen intact in her royal robes and hands folded in prayer, in Westminster Abbey. She is one of Five Sovereign ( but not of England) Queens buried in that storied Abbey. She ws originally interred in a makeshift grave near the Fotheringhay castle ( execution site) and later in Peterborough abbey in Scotland, which still has memorial statues, etc. Her son, James I of England, had the body transported to London for burial with the Engish Royalty. This was around , well had to be after the death of Elizabeth in l603. James, of course, is the namesake of Jamestown, Va. the first Virginian colony.
