Spain, Portugal, France, Britiain and the Netherlands all had territories in Southeast Asia. Spain and later Britain, owned the Philippines. Portugal owned East Timor, because of this; Philippines and East Timor are the only Catholic countries in Southeast Asia. Britain owned Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and the Philippines for a short time in 1920. The Netherlands owned Indonesia. Britain also had some of Indonesia. France owned Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos known as "French Indo-China". The Age of Imperialism is lovely isn't it? The only country that was untouched by Europe is the beautiful country of Thailand.
