If you mean being not being open with yourself, then I believe that would cause denial. The effects that I have experienced with self disclosure on my personal relationships are that when a personal question comes up in a conversation, I have no idea how to answer it. I agree that honesty is very important in satisfactory relationships and that it should be of paramount important, especially in romantic liaisons and marriages. Not sure about the difference in self-disclosure and honesty. They seem the same.
