Maids can provide much relief when it comes to cleaning. Some of their services include laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, and lawn care.
Pretty much the same as maids everywhere. They typically have soft soles and good ankle support and flats. At least that is what all the maids I saw in France were wearing.

The mother of the bride goes to the church rehearsal where the wedding party practices what they should do and say and then there is generally a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner after which all members of the wedding party (including the parents of the bride and groom.) There is no dress rehearsal for most brides or wedding party, but the bride and her brides maids would have to go into the wedding shop where the wedding dress and brides maids dresses were purchased to be sure no extra alterations have to be made on any of the dress and the mother may attend this if she asks the bride (which is generally not a problem.)
they cooked food and were pretty much like maids for their husbands or masters
It's optional, and so are the groomsmen. Usually, they have flower girls, but can also have boys as ringbearers.
There are Lady's maids, house-maids, nursary maids, nanny's, parlour maids, chamber maids, laundry maids, kitchen maids, cooks, butlers, house-keepers, between maids, scullery maids, still room maids and for smaller houses all-of-work-maids. Hope that helps! x
