There are no banned plant foods as far as I can remember, but there are two lists of unclean animals in the Bible - in Leviticus 11 and in Deuteronomy 14. These comprise about 120 animals, birds, sea animals and reptiles.Additional Comments:God states that cud-chewing animals with split hooves can be eaten. Also, fish that have fins and scales, along with birds with clean characteristics. As noted above, these may be found as indicated. The reason God gave the Israelites the law of clean and unclean meat was to make them holy as God is holy (Leviticus 11:44-45). The administrative change from the Levitical priesthood to the ministry of Jesus Christ did not void God's expectation that His people obey His law of clean and unclean meats or any other law for that matter - sacrificial laws were discontinued after Christ's sacrifice for all mankind. Both Peter and Paul speak of the continuing need for God's people to be holy (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 1:14-16).
