It was the longest and mosst severe economic depression ever experienced by the western world and it began in the us soon after the ny Stock Market crash of 1929.
1)The country's productivity declined harshly.

2)1 out of every 5 people were unemployed.

3)People's wages barely gave them enough to buy really basic foods, many times

the wages wouldn't be enough for this.

4) The President was Herbert Hoover a Republican

The US economy started coming out of it due to their involvement in WWII when they started rapidly manufacturing weapons for their armed forces.
- The Stock Market crashed on October 29, 1929.

- Any one who had money in the bank lost it.

- Lasted for many years and carried into WWII

- Had an affect on Germany (who aslo was in a depression) and other countires.

- During Germany's depression money wasn't worth anything. People would use it as instilation or burn it to keep them warm. I believe it would take a couple thousand dollars just to buy one loaf of bread.
Many people starved or commited suicide during the great depression, either they had food stamps or they starved during the great depression.
