A person have two options through which he/she can become a US citizen.
1. Person born to US citizen parents, enough if one parent is a citizen, is a US citizen by birth. As a proof for his/her citizenship they need to apply for the citizenship certificate using the US Immigration Form N-600 before they are 18 years old or married.
2.Through the naturalization process a person can become a US citizen by applying for US citizenship using the immigration Form N-400 after the age of 18 years.
