There are several Geo Metro fault codes including P1500, which indicates there has been a malfunction with the engine starter signal circuit. The code P0107 means that the MAP circuit voltage is low, and P0108 means the voltage is high.
pretty much instantly. As soon as the codes are cleared the check engine light goes off and vice versa, unless there still is trouble. In this case the codes won't clear until the trouble is repaired.
The check engine light is illuminated for a reason. One of the engine control devices has probably ceased functioning. Take the vehicle to a shop for diagnosis, and repair of the problem.
Probably an O2 sensor has worn out. You can take your vehicle to an AUTOZONE store and have the codes read for free. This will pinpoint the check engine light problem.
the vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit) stores information pertaining to these codes that trigger a check engine light. whenever you fix a problem the light will typically extinguish. in some cases the manufacturer will program the ECU to monitor a certain condition for a period of time, miles driven, or engine cycles( car off+ car start+ car drives+ car turns off) to ensure the fixed application continues to funtion properly. in most cases, as long as the problem does not come back, the light will extinguish on its own in a few days to a week of driving as you normally would. also, newer vehicles "learn" your driving habits in relation to fuel mapping for fuel economy and continued power. this would be another reason the check engine light is on with no codes drawn ( usually if a battery is disonnected then reconnected, this would occur). if none of these apply to your situation, the best thing to do would be to go to the dealership. especially if the car is still under warranty. that is what the warranty is for. USE IT!!
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem and have codes cleared
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

You may think there is nothing wrong but there is. If the check engine light is on there will be codes stored in the ECM. Have the codes read. The codes will help you determine what the cause is.
After replacing the EGR valve, use the diagnostic tool and erase codes then read the codes again. I had the same problem on my 97 geo metro. After replacing the egr valve, the check engine light stayed on. After a while it was suppose to clear itself but it didn't. So I went to autozone borrowed their diagnostic tool, erased the codes and then my car passed and the check engine light went off.
Have vehicle scanned to determine problem and have codes cleared
