I googled (Google.com) 'Sandakan POW Camp WW2' and got a lot of sites. Several looked good. Personally, I use a much stronger word than "tragedy" to describe what happened at Sandakan, Borneo to the British & Australian POWs held by the Japanese. The words I think of are: murder, brutality, atrocity, & war crimes. In any event, there should be sufficient information on the sites to hopefully help. A problem of course, is that there were so very few survivors to give first-hand accounts.
