At the battery if at all possible.
The vehicle will not crank.
It is the black cable on the battery. All GM ground wires are black.
Disconnect the positive battery cable and then take out the starter bolts and remove the wires/ then put the wires onto the new starter, put the stater back on and then put the battery cable back on.
The positive battery cable is red.
follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. there's three wires and two 8mm bolts. disconnect the negative battery cable then replace the solenoid by transferring the wires from the old to the new
There are many ground wires on this vehicle. The main one being the negative, (Black) battery cable.
if by "twisted pair cable" you mean a cat5 cable which is commonly used as an ethernet cable. then it´s made of copper.

you have to hold the battery cable or the nut behind it to keep it from turning with the nut you are removing.
