Where is the starter of a 1990 F-350 cargo van and how do you replace it?

The starter is located on the lower right hand side of the engine, and it will be bolted to the bellhousing of the transmission with two 1/2" or 13MM bolts. If it has only one wire going to it, you won't have to dis-connect the battery. The easiest way to tell this without crawling under, is if you know what the solenoid looks like that would be attached to the radiator support, behind the battery. If it doesn't, or the starter has more than one wire going to it, then the battery will have to be dis-connected. Remove the two bolts, and if the starter has one wire, a 3/8" or 10MM wrench will remove the bolt for the wire terminal. -Remove the wire first. Then the bolts for the starter, and pull it out, and drop it down.

Are the starter bolts tight ? It may have worn fly-wheel teeth. If you have the ticket on the new starter then I would take it back and get another 1.

How do you change the starter relay on a 1999 ford windstar?

The relay is located in the 12 volt ignition wiring harness going to the starter. The small wire on the starter is the ignition switch. The relay is located in the wiring harness. Are you sure the starter solnoide is not bad? When the ignition key is turned to the start location, you should read 14.1 volts going to the starter. If you read 14.1 volts, and the starter does not turn over. Check battery, and cables. Ok, Then replacement of starter is necessary. Starter bolts are 13mm. Brakeline bracket bolt is 15mm. Solnoide bolts are 13mm. Should take no more than 20 minutes to remove starter.Follow the + battery cable either mounted on the inner fender or on top of the starter

How do you change a starter on a 1993 Buick century V6?

replacing the starter is relatively simple, what do is remove the wires from the starter solenoid which is located on top of the starter motor, and mark where the wires came from, there is a small terminal then there is a bigger terminal. oh and un hook the battery before that because it's an unpleastant surprise. then using a jack support the starter before the bolts are removed, then remove the bolts, which in most cases are 15mm, then lower the jack with the starter and put the new one one the jack. raise the jack and hook everything back up. get the starter secured and hook the wires up then the battery and turn it over. jeremy aka ccz5105
