Chilblains, also called perniosis or blain, when occurring on the feet, is a medical condition that is often confused with frostbite and trench foot. Chilblains are acral ulcers that occur when a predisposed individual is exposed to cold and humidity. Acral refers to the extremities (e.g. fingers and toes). Causes are idiopathic or manifestations of serious medical conditions that need to be investigated. Chilblains can be prevented by keeping the feet and hands warm in cold weather. Smoking cessation and consultation with a dermatologist is advised.

What is chill bane?
It roots in native American culture of the current Canada/United States region. It is a condition where a person who grew up in extreme cold/chilly weather, and their blood does not circulate like most people's. Rather it tends to pool in the abdomen. Granted the blood does circulate but it tends to not be as plentiful in the distal extremities. Often it causes aches and pains in knees, hips, toes, wrists, fingers, and cranial headaches. Often a person with chillbane will touch something cold and it will sting for a few seconds but then the area will be completely numb. Often it is hard for them to regulate bodily temperature even after moving to warmer or hot climates. Extremities are often icey cold to the touch even though the person themselves may not perceive them as cold. It is spelled similar to "Chill Blaines" but is a completely separate condition. I am 87% Native American and I have Chill Bane, but I do not have Chill Blaines. I hope this answers your question.
