Best Answer

Cloth menstrual pads are pads worn during menstruation to absorb menstrual flow. They are like disposables or maxi pads, but reusable.

The benefits of using cloth menstrual pads instead of disposable pads is that they are supposedly comfortable, reusable, earth friendly, and save you money later on.

They come in different lengths, absorbencies, and colored fabrics/prints. They can also be water-proofed with washable fabric (also used in cloth diapers).

Where can you buy cloth menstrual pads?

If you want to buy cloth menstrual pads instead of making them then it's easiest to buy online - although some eco-friendly stores, pharmacies, and maternity stores may carry cloth pads. There are major brands such as Lunapads or Gladrags, but I personally recommend Etsy.com for pads.

Why doesn't menstrual blood stain cloths?

Menstrual blood does stain cloth/clothes which is why there are a plethora of stain removal products specifically aimed at getting out blood stains. This is also why many people who use cloth menstrual pads will soak their pads before washing.

What are pads and tampons?

Pads and tampons are two different types of menstrual products.Pads are absorbent pads of material - disposable pads are made from either synthetic materials or cotton with a plastic backing, cloth pads are made from cloth. They are put into the bottom of a menstruating persons underwear and stay in place thanks either to sticky backing on disposable pads or snap fasteners on cloth pads, they college menstrual flow as it leaves the vagina.Tampons are absorbent wads of material - disposable tampons are made from cotton or rayon and shaped a little like a rocket, soft tampons are made from a soft sponge and disk shaped, sponge tampons are made from natural sponge, and cloth tampons are rocket shaped made from cloth. They are inserted vaginally to absorb menstrual flow before it leaves the body.

Does a yeast infection cause a smelly menstrual?

Yes, a yeast infection can cause bad vaginal odour so add the stronger scent of menstruation and the fact that menstrual flow can further impact on vaginal flora then it can cause bad odour. However most of the time bad odour during menstruation is due to poor hygiene or using unhealthy menstrual products such as tampons or commercial menstrual pads (rather than menstrual cups, softcups, cloth menstrual pads, or organic menstrual pads).

Can a diaper be used instead of a sanitary napkin for heavy flows?

Yes, a diaper or incontinence pads can be used instead of menstrual pads if your flow is heavy, as too can maternity pads which also hold a little more. It would be a good idea to consider cloth pads which can hold a little more than commercial or organic menstrual pads, you can also add extra liners.

How do you wear menstrual pad?

Menstrual pads simply go into the crotch of your underwear to catch menstrual flow as it leaves your vagina. You position the pad in the bottom of your underwear, and they are kept in place either by glue on the back of the pad when you remove the backing or cloth pads are held in place by snap fastens on the wings of the pad that wrap around the underwear.

What should I use if I don't have pads and I am scared to use tampons?

There are a lot more menstrual options than just tampons or pads, look into all your options. For now if you're menstruating and don't have any pads then you can just use tissue or clean cloth (e.g. a face cloth) folded up and put into your underwear to act as a makeshift pad - remember lots of people make their own menstrual pads with cloth, if crafty you could even do that. Otherwise just bleed, menstrual flow is no less hygienic than vaginal discharge, just wash well to remove staining.

What are period pads?

Period pads are pads people use during menstruation.Pads are absorbent material that are worn inside a menstruating persons underwear to catch menstrual flow as it leaves the body to prevent it getting onto a persons underwear. Pads can either be disposable which are made from synthetics or cotton with plastic backing and held in place with a sticking backing, or cloth pads which are made from cloth and held in place by snap fasteners.

Can you run when you just got your period?

Yes, there is nothing you can't do during your period. If you normally wear menstrual pads you may want to consider cloth pads which are more comfortable and don't make you sweat like commercial pads, or underwear with pads built-in which will move with you as you run. Options like menstrual cups or softcups are best when active as they are internal but safer than tampons so can be worn for 12 hours with any flow, they don't increase cramps like tampons can and menstrual cups don't leak like other options.

When do women wear menstrual pads?

Women wear menstrual pads during menstruation, the purpose of these is to collect menstrual flow as it leaves the body in order to prevent it getting onto clothing. Some women will use pads before their period starts to be ready, and even when using tampons they still have to alternate with pads.
