The "Communism" that most people are used to is actually not communism, or even a form of socialism. The best example of this would be the USSR, where Stalin, under guise of Communism enacted a Dictatorship. This was, however, believed to be a necessary step to the creation of communism. Neither modern China, nor North Korea, are communist countries. In fact, they are both capitalists, despite the fact that they restrict your beliefs.

But this is misunderstood greatly. Communism [to most people] means that a leader/ruler controls a country blocking it from the rest of the world. Citizens in this type of Communistic rule don't have regular freedoms like freedom of speech and other basic rights and laws are more strict with harsher punishments for " rule breakers". North Korea [for example] is blocked from the rest of the world. They have out of date methods for agriculture and a poor economy, along with barely any basic freedoms and rights . South Korea has a good economy with up to date methods for agriculture and their people have the same rights and freedoms we do. The two countries are split by a demilitarized zone [DMZ] with high security.
