  • pH is not an "ion". it stands for Potential Hydrogen.
  • pH is a scale ranging from 0-14. it gives an idea about strength of solution. pH=7...neutral pH<7....acidic, pH>7...basic

Well, there isn't exactly a "pH ion"

But the relative concentrations of H+ (hydrogen ion) and OH- (hydroxide ion) are what determine the pH of a solution.

How is the pH scale shifted by the use of hydrogens ions?

pH is a measure of Hydrogen concentration pH = -log10[H+], where [H+] is the concentration of hydrogen ions. From this equation, we can see that an increase of hydrogen ions will lower the pH, and a decrease of hydrogen ions will raise the pH. =D

Why does pH of medium rise when urea is hydrolyzed?

pH is the measure of H+ ions. The more the concentration of H+ ions, the less the pH value and the more the concentration of OH- ions and lesser the concentration of H+ ions, the more is the pH value.

How do hydroxyl ions and hydronium ions affect pH?

As the concentration of hydronium ions (H+ ions) increases or as the concentration of hydroxyl ions (OH- ions) decreases, the pH of the solution decreases

How do ions relate to something's pH?

The pH is related to the activity of hydrogen ions (H+) in a solution.

How is the concentration of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions related in aqueous solutions?

Hydrogen ions: pH under 7.Hydroxide ions: pH over 7.

The regulation of pH is the control of which ions?

hydrogen ions.

How many more H plus ions does a solution with a pH of 4 have than a solution with a pH of 5?

the pH has 1 ions because the amoont of pH produce is the among you get.

How does the concentration of OH- ions change if its pH changes from 8 to 13?

As pH increases H+ ions concentration decreases means OH- ions concentration increases . If pH increases from 8 to 13 , OH- ions concentration increases.

What ions help regulate the pH of saliva?

bicarbonate ions

What does the pH level of soap tell you about the ions it contains?

A meaning of a pH over 7 is that the soap has ions OH-.

How does pH vary with hydronium and hydroxyl ions concentrated in water?

The meaning of more hydroxyl ions is a higher pH.

Do buffers release H plus ions when pH increases?

No they release Negative H ions when pH increases
