Clearly having Immigration laws for starters is one huge positive in matters of immigrating to our nation. We are of the posture of making those laws much stricter. Why? Strict immigration laws allow for the United States to monitor every visa issued; moreover, by having stricter immigration laws may indeed discourage what the "Founders" referred to as "people of bad character..." out of the country.
On the "con" side there really isn't too much that would be disrupted in America that would warrant a downside. One could always state that "...oh well, there goes inexpensive (cheap) labor; however, with upwards of 20 million people here illegally, I can't see a problem with anything happening, realistically, to labor.
Some pros of the new Arizona immigration law is that hospitals and schools won't get crowded. There could be less kiddnappings. A con is that some people consider it was racial profiling. - by sharde && jamel

Pros of direct democracy include increased citizen participation, more direct representation, and potential for greater accountability of government officials. However, cons can include the risk of majority tyranny, potential for uninformed decision-making, and inefficiency in decision-making due to the need to involve all citizens in the process.
