The Church of Scotland does not grant annulments of marriages. It is, however, possible for someone who is divorced to be remarried in the Church of Scotland (subject to the permission of the Minister of the local parish church).
A Catholic annulment is the same in any jurisdiction.
There is only one pope and he rules the Church from the Vatican. In 2014 that pope is Pope Francis. Individual countries do not have popes.
Marriage is not understood in the Church of Scotland to be a sacrament, and therefore binding forever. A minister may therefore conduct the marriage of a divorced person whose former spouse is still alive. See link below regarding divorce and remarriage in the various Christian churches.A member of the Church of Scotland who is divorced may not be married in the Catholic Church. They would need to disclose that they were already married and their previous marriage would require an annulment.
All Protestant churches are different. Ask your minister for the rules of your church.
Because he did not like the rules of the church he was with and this was because the rules said what he had done was wrong.
That the Church would not indulge his personal sins and "bend the rules" for him, so he turned away from Christ and the Church and made up his own Church to suit himself.AnswerKing Henry VIII was a staunch Catholic and had no criticism of the Catholic Church. In fact, it was his defence of the Catholic Church against the claims of Martin Luther, that earnt him the papal attribute of 'Defender of the Faith'.However, Henry believed he needed a son to ensure the succession to the crown, as there was no strong precedent for female successors. He knew that the Church's rules on annulment were somewhat elastic and so petitioned Pope Clement VII for an annulment of his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. His grounds would be that her prior marriage with his brother had been consummated and therefore her marriage with Henry was technically incestuous. Clement desperately wanted to please Henry but vacillated for too long. When Pope Clement had unsuccessfully engaged the armies of Emperor Charles in battle, he was no longer a free agent and realised that as Catherine was the aunt of the emperor he could do no other than to refuse the annulment. Henry, in turn, broke ties with the pope and ordered the English bishops to annul his marriage. His only criticism, if any, was that papal rulings that had applied to others should have also been available to him.
Another word for the rules set by the church to be followed is "doctrine."
The canons of the church are its laws or rules
If a church has rules you do not intend to follow, why would you care to be a member? You would be a hypocrite.
1. Church rules are not based on the bible, BELIEFS are but not rules 2. Dogs are not allowed in church because they'd cause a ruckus
