solar panels and such do release carbon when they are made, and sometimes are near impossible to maintain.
That is not completely true. My home has a 400 watt wind turbine and a bank of 75 watt Shell panels for power. It takes less then 20 hours a week to maintain the system. The payback, with the grants is about twenty years, unless we have a wind storm, hail or lightening again.....
If I had it to do over there is no way I would waste money and time on this nonsense!
On larger scales one of the harder issues is hiding the damage these systems do to the environment. Killing of birds and bats, destruction of fish and the land use are just some of the issues.
The fossil fuel plants that must also be maintained to supply power when these go down. Remember wind is not always there, nor is solar so these fossil fuel plants run full time with no load,. Net result is no fuel savings and increased CO2 production. Strong feel good though!
