Make sure before you start your muscles are warm or else you could cause yourself serious injury, Practice touching your toes a lot and attempt to do a split every day if you can. if you can't then work at it and do YOGa. Yoga is soooo awesome... do it and you will be SUPER flexible in no time.
Simply stretching. Most athletes do some form of this to warm up for their sports, but for gymnastics it is perhaps one of the most important things you can do. The more you stretch a muscle to its limits, the further you can push those limits. So if you cannot touch your toes, the more times you try each day the sooner you will train your muscles until you can, likewise doing the splits, and so on. You could also try yoga.
