Some wireless routers can do that. So if you have one, read the manual.
WRT54G is a nice 4 port wireless router. Been around for years. You can either find them at Walmart, or online, maybe Ebay. They do run about $50.00 but you can never go wrong with Linksys. They are a division of "Cisco" systems, the leader in router technology.
Not in most cases. Most wireless (or WiFi) routers also have an ethernet RJ45 port and you can connect that way with a CAT5 cable....even connect a switch for more ports.
Yes. It is only recently that some wireless routers DO have gig ports, and they usually cost more than those that have only 10/100.
If you needed to buy a cheap wireless router with a USB port on the front, you might try looking for a used one on EBay. You could also check with Amazon, who is cheap too.
The 4 port switch will only connect 4 hard wired (not wireless) computers, whereas the 8 port will connect 8.Note that the amount of wirelessly connected devices supported will be the same, which is unlimited, or until the device blows up.
If you are running a modem that has an Ethernet port, plug the Ethernet port into the switch, along with all the computers. Actually you may want to get a "Router" for the extra "Hardware" Firewall and in case you get a wireless Printer, etc, make it a "wireless" Router. Most Wireless Routers come with a 4 port Lan also. They're coming out with Gigabit Routers (Lan ports) now so you won't lose your "local" Lan speed, IF you need it. (it wont make the internet faster) DSL/Cable modem------Router-------switch------computers, printers, etc. -------(wireless part of Router----wireless Printer, wireless computers, etc.)
It's called a switch. Many wireless routers have a 4-port switch. Also you can purchase a switch separately.
To my knowledge USBs cannot carry network connections like that. You need an Ethernet cord, which is what routers are fitted for.
You need to have a special converter or modem which is made for fiber optic networks. Usually such modems have a lan port for wireless routers or network switches.
Belken N1 wireless routers can be bought on both ebay and Amazon. They can also be bought on both the Newegg website, along with Belken N1 4-port switches.
I have a wireless router and a wireless network adapter. I have the wireless network adapter (CAT5 not USB) connected to the WAN port on my router. I set the network adapter to connect to the other wireless network, then I can get internet rebroadcast through my router. I use Airlink 101 router and D-link wireless network adapter DD-WRT provides firmware for many types of routers that allows you to setup a wifi router as a bridge or a repeater. Repeater mode will work better as you do not have to assign a static IP address. By flashing your router with this firmware, your basically multiplying the value of your router by 5. Routers that work best for this: older models of linksys, usually a wrt54gs or a wrt54gl, and also buffalo routers, but good luck finding buffalo routers. For more info, visit http://www.dd-wrt.com.They have their own wiki section and will provide you with PLENTY of information to get this done.
