Is this person a standard vegetarian (meaning they dont eat meat but still eat dairy and eggs) or are they a vegan (meaning no animal foods at all)?
The most important thing for a vegetarian to be aware of is protein. Complete proteins (proteins with all the amino acids your body needs) come mostly from animal products, but most nutritionists say that tofu, or soy, is also a complete protein. If you do not eat any animal products it is a good idea to incorporate soy to get all the proteins your body needs. If you do not eat soy you need to "pair up" proteins. For example: brown rice contains some proteins your body needs, and beans contain another, so pairing these can give you a more complete protein.
Some vegetarians, especially vegans, tend to be low in iron, calcium, and B12 as well if they do not eat the right foods. Fortified cereals have B12. Soybeans and spinach contain iron. Broccoli and almonds contain calcium. If you are not a vegan, eggs are a good source of B12 and milk a good source of calcium.
It's a good idea to meet with a nutritionist. Everyone's needs are different. They can help make sure you get everything you need. Based off your individual diet you may require a supplement.
Make sure you eat adequate protein, fruits and vegetables and minimize simple carbohydrates.
For new vegetarians, eat stuff you are used to--Pizza, pasta, Sandwiches, meatless ethnic foods--
Eat whole grains, beans, veggies, nuts and seeds, fruit. For beginning vegetarians it's sometimes easier to be lacto-ovo-vegetarian and include eggs and dairy products in your diet. Get some good books on vegetarianism and inform yourself.
Eat lots of things with protein like beans, fruit, vegetables, and soy products to keep you healthy! Remember, eat enough so you don't get sick or feel sick at all during the day, if you do feel sick eat more. If you follow all of these rules you can be a healthy vegetarian.
The best foods for vegetarains are those high in essential nutrients and protein, which they will naturally lack from not eating meat. This includes whole grains, dark leafy green, nuts, seeds, beans, and fruits. For those that choose to do so, low-fat dairy is good, too.
Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, whole grain alternatives. Seaweed.

Eating only rice (a diet of only carbohydrates, would not be healthy for anyone. Buddhists, whether vegitarians or omnivores, eat a wide variety of healthy foods.
Rhinos are vegitarians, they eat grass. As such they do not hunt.

Yes, it's a good source of protein.
I guess that's a yes and a no. Vegitarians eat fish and chicken witch is considered not meat. Vegens eat only vedgies. So I`m guessing herbivores are more Vegens. ~Amythefairy
no because rabbits are vegitarians and their babies would be meat
Yes of course vegitarians can wear cotten. Cotten comes from a plant. Since vegitarians eat only plants and not animals then its okay. There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to.
An edable animal that vegitarians can't eat. Also a form of meat or poultry.
