check every electrical connection, check for spark, check for fuel pressure, is there gas? etc...check all the basics as if it's just a vehicle that won't start, don't assume that because its "new" and you just replaced it, that this CAN'T POSSIBLY be the cause...read up of troubleshooting guidelines... everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and a professional shop manual should be available at your local library in the reference section, make copies of the appropriate pages, and good luck:)

What are some negatives in a rebuilt head gasket?

First, head gaskets are not rebuilt. They are replaced and on V6's and V8's they must be replaced in pairs. If properly installed, the engine will be as good as new(that is if everything else with the engine is ok. The only bad thing would be is if some hack did the job and cut corners.
