On economic and trade terms, Mexico mostly interacts with the United States, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Chile, China, South Korea and Japan. On diplomatic terms, Mexico interacts the most with its immediate neighbors, being the United States, Cuba and Guatemala the most important in this respect; then other Latin American nations follow, such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, which are related to Mexico's language, culture and traditions. Due to historical reasons and economic importance, interactions with Spain and France are common, followed by England, Germany and the rest of Europe.
Although diplomatic relations exist, Mexico engages much less with other countries in Eastern Asia (being Japan, China and South Korea the most important), South-Central Asia (India) and the Middle East (Israel, Egypt). Finally, Mexico has some diplomatic representations in Africa and Central Asia, but most of these countries are too closed, too poor or too far away to have a meaningful diplomatic contact.
It is just a matter of personal preferences. Some would like Mexico more than other countries; some wouldn't.
Mexico did not experience the great depression as heavily as other countries.
Countries all around the world interact with Ireland. Ireland is a member of many international organisations, has diplomatic relations with countries around the world, has Irish citizens living in them and there are other connections. They interact in different ways, some with body, some with mind.

Most countries in South America share some traits with Mexico. Some include language, religion and general culture, such as Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador. Some others are "newly industrialized countries", which have more developed economies like Mexico, such as Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. You must understand that every country is different from each other, at least on small details, and this too is the case: Argentina is to Mexico what Canada is to the United States; Brazil is to Mexico what Portugal is to Spain.
