The codes are generated by the engine control computer system and are readable with a module that is plugged into a port under your dash. There are a lot of them; too many to list in this reply. I would suggest a trip to the local library's reference section to look at one of the repair manuals for your make and model, or if you're suspecting a problem a local parts store will likely have a code reader that they can plug in and provide information about any error that comes up. I also recommend that you search the database of answered questions in WikiAnswers for information from previous posts that have come before yours.
