DISADVANTAGES-- If you cook it too long, your food can become dry With some foods, it can drain flavour as opposed to giving it a better taste. More time consuming than other methods. There are more advantages in the roasting cooking method than there are disadvantages.

Advantages:

  • Meats and poultry are very tender and tasty
  • Meat juices from the meat can be used for gravy
  • Oven temperature can be controlled
  • Access, adjustment and removal of the food is easy
Disadvantages:
  • Roasting requires attention
  • Ovens are expensive to use

If you mean to compare roasting to boiling, roasting leaves the food with a stronger flavor than boiling. Unless you have ready access to an over, boiling may be easier since most people can always boil water. Both cook the food evenly.

The advantage is the rustic taste that you get. It's delicious. The disadvantage is that it takes quite a bit of time to cook your food this way...if you can be patient enough you will be happy with the results!
