Advantages of capillary tubes are:
1. They are inexpensive and simple.
2. No maintenance is required because they have no moving parts.
3. In technology, they reduce the starting torque of the motor by providing an open connection between the condenser and the evaporator
Disadvantages :
1. They cannot adjust themselves to changing flow conditions
2. They are susceptible to clogging because the bore is so narrow. A filter should be used to prevent entry of particles or moisture.
3. In technology, specially refrigerant and HVAC, flooding of the evaporator may occur and damage to the compressor may result upon start up.
