SSD stands for Solid State Drive and HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive. SSDs are far faster than HDD. Today, the capacity of SSDs are far lower than HHDs.
SSD are fast because they are a bank of RAM with a controller that simulates a HDD controller. This controller allows the SSD to plug into (and be recognized by) a computer as if it were a HDD. Since the SSD is far faster than a HDD, using one for the drive you deliver your operating system to allows your computer to boot to the desktop very rapidly. If you haven't changed the location of your Windows virtual memory, this also improves the page swapping speed while the computer is running applications.
You should change the "Temp" system environment variable to point to a hard drive on your system or the SSD can become filled rather rapidly. The "Temp" environment variable is used to point to the location for storing temporary internet files as well as many other temporary files the operating system produces. After a certain volume of the default windows drive is reached, Windows can start to bog down since it will have trouble swapping things in and out of memory.
Solid State Drives (SSD) are more robust that traditional magnetic drives. They dont have any moving parts and generate less heat during operation that magnetic drives. They are also not vulnerable to strong magnetic fields which magnetic drives are. They use less energy in operation as they have no moving parts.
On the downside SSD's are susceptible to degradation over time and cannot be physically defragged (as magnetic drives can be).
The I/O configuration AHC would be the best HDD and SDD configuration for me.
Switch from an HDD to an SSD.
Upgrade your laptop to have an SSD instead of an HDD
It is not known, but it is probable that they would think they use both.
Yes, people just normally use an SSD as a boot drive because it makes booting up a lot faster as well as Windows it'self run faster than when it's running on a HDD. But if you don't mind the slower OS and would preffer faster game loading then use the SSD for your games and HDD for OS and Storage.
Unless you bought your PC or built it with a ssd, there will be none...an SDD(Solid Slate Drive) is a high performance/speed HDD(Harddrive). Often very expensive.
Exactly what the title says I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6163us (laptop) i need a new hdd or ssd. and i need Windows 7 hp 64-bit where can i get them cheap?
No if you're talking about RAM but sometimes if you are replacing a HDD or SSD it can be that you are going to fork out another £70 or $100
the main parts the motherboard is connected to are: the gpu, cpu, ram, internet card, HDD (or SSD), optical drive
HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive. SDD stands for Solid State Drive.
HDD is an abbreviation for Hard Disk Drive.
There are a few advantages of buying a SSD drive such as less power usage, faster data access and higher reliability. You can get an SSD drive at any computer store such as Best Buy.
