i guess there are pros and cons to this.
pro being data (say a document for example) can be sent straight over the internet, instant copies can be made and modified, printed etc. its an overall win for convenience and professionalism.
and of course a con being there is always the chance (however unlikely) that your computer may die and you'll lose everything. however there are steps you can take such as keeping another virtual copy on an external drive or another computer.
i personally think the option on keeping data virtual is a win.
