What are the best childrens' charities?

I personally would lean towards the children because they are totally dependent. There are alot of hungry kids on this planet, many of them in the United States believe it or not. It's really hard to choose because there are so many crooks out there but keep in mind that the love involved in your gift will go further than your money where God is concerned. Jesus said that by doing for the poor , hungry and sick you do for me. Matthew, Ch.25 verse 40. In other words if you give to the poor you are actually giving to Jesus. How sweet is that? Don't let the criminals hinder your efforts of giving to others, If given in Christ's name you will be blessed for it regardless. Hope this helps. ANSWER In my opinion you should give to the charity you feel closest to. I can't say you should give to so and so charity because I don't want to sound bias but I personally give to a very big children's charity organization. I feel that children are helpless and need our prayers and support. If we as a society want a better future then we should invest in the future "the children", it's easier to mend a child then to fix an adult.

There are many good ones and just as many bad ones. Charity Navigator does a rating of the various charities showing how much of the donation goes to the charity, as opposed to going to administrative costs, etc. A link to this listing is provided in the related links section for this question as well as a few other links to info about charities.

If I would be forced to say which is best for an international charitable organization, that would depend on many personal preferences and which type of charity I would be most interested in supporting. I do, however, recommend Heifer Internationalwhich meets my criteria very well, as do UNICEF and the American Red Cross. Also, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (free hospital care for children with cancer) and Shriner's Hospitals for Children (Burn Centers and orthopedic hospitals) would be excellent choices. Some local charities I have supported include homeless shelters, shelters for women and children in abusive situations, food cooperatives, soup kitchens, Salvation Army, animal shelters, and local church charities, to name only a few.

Some of the best children's charities are well known like the Boys and Girls Club of America and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Others are lesser known like Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) and Canines for Disabled Kids.
