these bolts get tightened in three steps. 1st step- 45 ft. lbs. 2nd step- 65 ft.lbs. 3rd step- 65 ft. lbs. and an additional 90 degree turn last, torque the small bolt in the rear of the head to 25 ft. lbs. this is true came right out of a chilton manual.

The head bolt torque for the Dodge 6 cylinder and V-8 engines is 50 ft. lbs. torque. If it is a diesel engine, the torque is 90.4 ft. lbs. Tighten the bolts by working from the center out, and alternating side to side. This prevents warping of the head.
