If you have or develop allergies to these proteins, it is important to vary your food sources. Instead of over-relying on wheat, use wheat alternatives such as rice, millet, quinoa. Dairy products are ideally used sparingly, as grown animals and people do not need milk. There are many types of beans besides soy; lentils and peas tend to be less allergy forming. Nuts and seeds are an excellent source of protein as well.

Those who cannot easily digest milk, are lactose intolerant, or have a milk allergy can find similar proteins in hard cheeses (which have a very low dairy / lactose content) or other milks, such as soy, rice, and almond milk.

* Environment - Protein can come from natural non-meat foods, such as grains, beans, nuts, and certain vegetables. These are more environmentally friendly and use up less energy to grow than manufacturing animal meat does.

* Molecular differences - Proteins come in different molecular sizes and shapes, and a variety of different types of proetins is good for a balanced and healthy diet.
