well there are many disadvantages from smoking, short term effects can include bronchitis, the inflammation of the bronhi and bronchioles, this causes a nasty cough. emphysema is where your alveoli enlarge so that not all the oxygen can get into your blood resulting in getting breathless quickly. other short term effects include nails and teeth going yellow, croaky voice and generally smelling. longer effects are things like cancer and horrible diseases.. blurgh
